As response to the Covid-19 pandemic, a new Fund for Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response is being established to be hosted by the World Bank. The next months will be critical for negotiating the governance structure and operational modalities taking lessons from existing funds such as the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Now it is proposed to apply also the concept of Global Public Investment that JLI has been promoting for several years. Together with other partners Christoph Benn on behalf of JLI has published a commentary in The Lancet* with recommendations for the new fund based on the GPI principles to make sure it will be as inclusive, participatory and impactful as possible.
